Our client, a reputable utility company with head office in Accra, seeks to recruit Manager, Areas Human Resources.

JOB FUNCTION

Supervise and coordinate the provision of general human resource and administrative services and support to departments in ALL locations of the Company.

KEY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide support to the Director, Human Resources in the management of the HR Offices in the Locations.
  • Provide HR Planning services to client departments in the Locations in conjunction with the Resourcing and Documentation Section.
  • Provide recruitment and placement services for client Departments in the Locations.
  • Provide consultancy services in the interpretation of the Labour Act, HR Policies and Procedures as well as Management decisions and HR issues/initiatives.
  • Provide employee relations services and coordinate all staff welfare issues in the Locations.
  • Coordinate, review, update, monitor and advise on departmental policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate and/or administer compensation and benefits of staff in the Locations.
  • Monitor industrial relation issues and coordinate with corporate HR for the necessary interventions to be provided.
  • Coordinate the effective maintenance of manual and computerized records.
  • Carry out orientation for newly engaged staff and onboarding for Principal Officers and above.
  • Carry out regular education on Core Values for staff of the HR Department.
  • Meet regularly with Staff Group Leaders to foster a cordial relationship and engage them on topical issues.
  • Constantly monitor the industrial climate through the various location offices and alert Management to any potential threats.
  • Supervise the co-ordination of Balance Scorecard target setting and quarterly reviews of staff in the Locations.
  • Supervise the preparation of mandatory sectional reports and budgets.
  • Supervise staff of the HR Offices in the Locations.
  • Any other duties assigned by the Director, Human Resources.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • The right candidate must possess:
  • A minimum of a good First Degree in Human Resources, Social Sciences, Administration, or related field.
  • A minimum of Twelve (12) years relevant post qualification experience most of which should be at supervisory level.
  • Membership of a relevant professional body is desirable.

COMPETENCIES

  • In-depth knowledge of HRM systems and practices.
  • In-depth knowledge of Power Sector policies, procedures and practices including Collective Agreements for staff.
  • Ability to analyse jobs to prepare job descriptions and specifications.
  • Excellent knowledge of the Labour Act 2003 (Act 651).
  • Ability to recognize and reward achievements.
  •  Ability and willingness to take disciplinary action where necessary.
  •  Ability to provide clear direction to staff, specifying what is expected and linking jobs to business targets.
  • Ability to conduct and coordinate selection interviews.
  • Knowledge of business communication principles and practice.
  • Ability to listen to the views and ideas of other people without undue defensiveness.
  • Ability to speak or write in a manner that communicates the intended message without hurting other people.
  • Ability to represent the interests, problems, and concerns of team members to higher levels of management.
  • Knowledge of Business Planning and Budgeting.
  • Ability to use relevant computer software applications with ease (MS Word & Excel, Oracle HRMS etc.).
