Veteran Ghanaian Highlife singer, Obuoba J. A. Adofo has stated his position with respect to bleaching.
He has stated in recent times that when he was young and energetic, he bleached a lot.
He said that he bleached to elevate his status with the public.
He also wanted his name and persona to resonate with his fans but his motive backfired.
According to the veteran musician, he regrets having bleached because after all, he is now black.
The veteran musician made this confession in an interview with Graphic Showbiz.
J. A. Adofo said hat during his time, bleaching, having curly hair and permed hair was the style in town.
That was the style of most people who thought they were worthy enough.
Adofo recalled that he also wanted to feel special so he bleached when he was at his music peak.
Mr Adofo in his statement expressed he thought people will see him as a big man after bleaching.
He however stated that he has regretted bleaching because of its complications and the consequences one can suffer.
He said that it is very difficult for surgery to be performed on bleached skin.
He advised that people stay true to their colo and treat it well enough in order not to regret like he did.
