The Electoral Commission chairperson of Ghana, Madam Jean Mensa has just declared Nana Addo Dankwah Akuffo Addo as the newly elected President of the Republic of Ghana.
The incumbent President of Ghana and the Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party has been declared winner.
The election was obviously a two-horse race as anticipated between the biggest parties in the country.
John Dramani Mahama performed very well and pulled in a lot of numbers but unfortunately lost to Nana Addo.
In announcing the results, the chairperson, Madam Jean Adukwei Mensa said the NPP obtained 6,730,413 which represents 51.49% as against Mahama’s 6,214,889 being 47.366%.
She stated that the results didn’t include the Techiman South constituency.
There’s a voter population of 128,018 in the Techiman South constituency.
She said the results of the above mentioned constituency was not added. According to her, even if the total votes there is added to that of the NDC, nothing will change.
She added that the NDC have no chance to win with the results yet to be verified.
On that note, she declared Nana Addo Dankwah Akuffo Addo of NPP to be Ghana’s new President elect.
Much is anticipated on further developments as people have started jubilating.
